2019 Hyundai Nexo Owner's Manual

Hyundai NEXO is a front-wheel drive K2 class electric crossover that uses hydrogen as fuel. The official presentation of the car took place at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas on January 8, 2018; the pre-production version was shown in August 2017 in Seoul.

Hyundai decided to change the strategy for developing hydrogen-powered cars: if earlier engineers used a production car with an internal combustion engine as a basis and converted it (as was the case with Santa Fe, Tucson, Hyundai ix35), now a separate platform is being created for such a model. Hyundai Nexo received a lighter design, as well as, compared to previous models, a more powerful electric motor and other fuel equipment. Under the floor of the car, there are 3 cylinders of 52.2 liters each, made of composite materials. They are capable of holding up to 6.3 kg of hydrogen, which can be refueled in 5 minutes. At the same time, the cruising range with filled cylinders is almost 600 km according to the American EPA cycle and a little more than 800 km according to the European NEDC cycle.

The car is powered by an electric motor that produces 154 hp. With. and 395 Nm of torque. The total output of the battery located under the trunk and the fuel cell generator is 135 kW. The result is an acceleration of a not so small crossover (length – 4670 mm, wheelbase – 2790 mm) to 97 km / h in 9.5 s. The maximum speed on 17-inch wheels is 177 km/h.
